St Michael’s 2023 Retreat at Wychcroft: 29 September - 1 October 2023

What is the Retreat?

A weekend away for 20-30 people (over the age of 16yrs) during which we will reflect on our faith together and have an afternoon of silence, waiting on God.

There are single rooms and double rooms for couples.

The retreat will be led by the vicar and Christopher Chapman, an experienced retreat leader and spiritual director, who trained at St Beuno's Spiritual Exercises Centre and Heythorp College. It will be an opportunity for God, through the power of his Holy Spirit, to affirm our faith and deepen our spirituality.

This year’s theme‘They begged him to let the sick touch at least the fringe of his robe, and all who touched him were healed. (Matthew 14:36)When we come close to Jesus it is impossible not to experience healing.  On this retreat, we will seek healing for ourselves and explore how we can bring healing to others.

Where is the Retreat?
At Wychcroft, Bletchingley,  Redhill, Surrey RH1 4NE -  a Victorian house set in the  heart of the Surrey countryside.

What is the programme?
Saturday will be a quiet day.  In the morning we will have breakfast followed by Morning Prayer at 9am and a guided session to help us reflect on our faith.  After lunch there will be free time and a further guided session after tea and in the evening after supper.  And then Evening Prayer at 9pm.
Bible passages will be given for meditation.  There will be suggested spiritual exercises and the opportunity for walking, sleeping and writing in our journals.

On Sunday, after breakfast, we have a Communion Service at 10am and then gather for a feedback session – although no one is under pressure to share things they would prefer not to.

We go home after lunch on the Sunday.

What do I need to bring?
A Bible, comfortable shoes for walking and a journal.  The weekend is not an opportunity for catching up on work or other things you need to do.So please do not bring laptops, work projects, novels, magazines or books.
