We Remember ... Heroes of the Faith at St. Michael's - Ronald Richard Riley

RONALD RICHARD RILEY
19 April 1921 – 7 July 1994

Ron was a Bristolian whose family moved to London when he was 5 years old. Through a family friend he met and married Phyllis, who was born in Taunton, and they lived in Cambridge Road, Chiswick for most of their married life. After a few years in the private sector, Ron worked for the Local Authority for the bulk of his career: initially for Brentford and Chiswick Council and latterly for Hounslow Borough Council.

He was first our Cubmaster, then Group Scout Leader and in all was a leader of the Scouting movement in Chiswick from 1963 until 1986, when he reached scouting’s retirement age. He was a Sidesman for very many years and in the early 1980’s he served as our Churchwarden in partnership with Helen Simmonds.
