ST MICHAEL’S
We are a broad friendly Church, with both a modern outlook and traditional Christian values. We have two Sunday services: Holy Communion with Choir and organ led worship at 9:30 and Holy Communion with Band led worship at 11:00.

HOURS TO BE WORKED
9am-1pm on two weekday mornings from the church with some flexibility to work from home

THE ROLE

  1. Manage email, post and phone messages and respond to/refer as appropriate (with maintenance and purchasing issues referred to Churchwardens and all bookings issues to the Bookings Manager)
  2. Maintain accurate records on ChurchSuite (Church’s database system) and Shared Drive (cloud-based filing system)
  3. Maintain accurate Parish Calendars
  4. Prepare Sunday readings and children's colouring sheets + readings for special services and file in Shared Drive
  5. Keep DBS checks and Safeguarding Training up to date with regard to people in particular roles and be the DBS Evidence Checker
  6. Keep ‘achurchnearyou.com’ webpage up to date
  7. Arrange access to Church and Centre for maintenance purposes
  8. Help the Vicar and Churchwardens to produce Annual Report and Annual Returns to the Diocese and Charity Commissioners
  9. Other administrative tasks, as required

PERSON SPECIFICATION
• Highly organised and someone who pays attention to detail and can prioritise and use their initiative
• Able to handle confidential information with care and accuracy
• Proactive, dependable and able to work with initiative
• A thoughtful and professional communicator
• Confident using Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and filing in Cloud-based systems
• Working knowledge of ChurchSuite is desirable but not essential
• Willing to work flexibly when needed
• In sympathy with the Christian faith and, ideally, familiar with the life and structures of the Church of England, or willing to grow in that understanding
• Right to work in the UK
• Willing to undertake a basic DBS check

OTHER ASPECTS TO NOTE
• Need to maintain confidentiality at all times
• Need to be aware of and act in accordance with appropriate Child Protection policies, Health and Safety policies, Equal Opportunities policies and Data Protection legislation and procedures
• Administrator would report to the Vicar and Churchwardens

PAYMENT
• £16 per hour

EXPENSES
• St Michael’s will reimburse expenses including cost of using personal mobile phone

TIMETABLE
